FAQ's
Is your injury clinic just for sports-related injuries or conditions?
Certainly not. Jay utilises techniques and treatment methods that are used in both sports therapy and physiotherapy and are effective in helping all kinds people with musculoskeletal aches and pains and sporting and non-sporting injuries.
Sports therapy vs Physiotherapy – What’s the difference?
Sports therapy tends to specialise more on the injury side of things, whereas physiotherapy is a bit more medical. Sports therapy is more concerned with the prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of the patient back to optimum occupational and/or activity-specific fitness and will apply the same skills as physiotherapists. Most of the conditions you would typically associate with needing to see a physio about, are more than likely conditions that a sports therapist can help with. If you’re unsure, just give Jay a call and he can happily point you in the right direction – sports therapist, physio or otherwise.
What treatment can you provide?
We take a holistic approach to treatment and injury rehabilitation and will devise a treatment plan based on appropriate treatment techniques and provide recommendations based on your individual needs and ability. Examples of techniques may include joint mobilisation, positional release, trigger point therapy, electrotherapy, sports massage therapy, strapping and taping, acupuncture, traction and education. We go the extra mile by being able to offer immediate onward referral to other healthcare professionals if a collaborative approach is required to speed up diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.
How long will my first appointment last and how much will it cost?
Initial assessments, which includes treatment, will last for approximately 1 hour and involve a thorough assessment of your injury or condition, followed by the appropriate treatment. The total cost of a clinic appointment is £45 or for a home visit, its £50.
How often should my sessions be?
The frequency of treatment sessions varies from one client to another, and very much depends on the injury or condition and the recommendations provided. For best results and to maintain the benefits long-term, it is recommended to see Jay on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
Can I see you regularly?
Of course! If you wish to maintain your hard-earned results long-term, then regular sessions of at least once per month are recommended as they help to prevent future pain or tension episodes before they occur enabling you to continue doing the things you enjoy.
Do you provide home visits?
Absolutely. Jay firmly believes that treatment should be easily accessible to all and is proud to offer a mobile service where he can come to your home or other suitable setting.
Can I prevent pain returning?
Yes. Jay’s multi-skilled approach will assess your lifestyle, with the aim of discovering the underlying cause for your problem. In addition to treatment, exercise advice will also be prescribed to help you maintain a healthier lifestyle that underpins the road to recovery.
What if I have to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
Please give Jay a minimum of 24hrs notice should you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, otherwise cancellation fees may apply. Jay will do all he can to provide you with a suitable alternative appointment slot.
